What is CBT-I and how is it different from sleep hygiene advice?
CBT-I (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia) is the clinically recommended first-line treatment for chronic insomnia — more effective than sleeping medication in the long term. It targets the thoughts and behaviours that maintain insomnia, not just the symptoms. Sleep hygiene (keeping a consistent schedule, avoiding screens, etc.) is just one component of CBT-I. The full programme goes much deeper.
How quickly will I see results?
Most clients notice meaningful improvement within 3–4 weeks of starting the CBT-I programme. The full 6-week programme is designed to create lasting change rather than a quick fix that fades. The RTT hypnotherapy session often produces a noticeable shift in anxiety around sleep within the first week after listening to the recording.
What does the RTT session involve?
Rapid Transformational Therapy (RTT) is a form of clinical hypnotherapy developed by Marisa Peer. The session takes around 90 minutes. You remain fully aware and in control throughout — it is nothing like stage hypnosis. We use guided relaxation to access and reframe the subconscious beliefs driving your sleep anxiety. You also receive a personalised audio recording to listen to for 21 days afterwards.
My insomnia is stress or anxiety-related — will this still work?
Yes — stress and anxiety are among the most common drivers of chronic insomnia, and both CBT-I and RTT are well-suited to addressing this. CBT-I helps break the cycle of sleep anxiety and hyperarousal; RTT addresses the deeper subconscious patterns that keep your nervous system in a heightened state at night. Many clients find the combination particularly effective for stress-related sleep issues.
Do you prescribe or recommend medication?
Rebecca is not a medical doctor and cannot prescribe medication. CBT-I is recommended by NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence) as the preferred treatment for insomnia specifically because it works without medication. If you are currently taking sleep medication, the programme can be run alongside this and can support a gradual reduction plan in consultation with your GP.
How are sessions delivered?
All sessions are delivered online via Zoom, so you can work with Rebecca from anywhere in the UK. Sessions are typically scheduled during the working week.
